How Do I Get Started?
The easiest way to become involved in EMS is to contact us! We are already looking for people just like you. You don't have to have any previous EMS or First Aid training. We will send you to school and pay for it. In exchange, we expect you to be a member of the service and sign up for call time with us.

School/cost?

Class tuition, books, National Registry testing for a EMT totals about $800. A paramedic class can total $6,500 to $16,000 depending on a number of things. Baldwin Area EMS wil pay for the tution of local residents to attend classes that are willing to work for the service following the classes for a period of time. There are a number of things that go into the decision to sponsor students from living locally, to pre-qualifying testing. There is a contract that must be signed and approved by the municipal board. Please make an appointment to find out if you qualify for the sponsorship.

How much does the average on call EMT work?

In Baldwin we require a minimum of 72 hours of availability per month, 24 hours covering a weekend. You name the hours and days you are available to work, and we create a schedule from that. It is all done online so you can schedule from home or work if you want. Every one works some holiday hours each year (emergencies do not stop), holiday call hours and run time double on holidays.
